Slow wsusou install

Vista Updates are completely borked and this will likely not change for the 6 months it's still in support.
Even with the KBs installed which should speed-up search I still have search times from 40 minutes to 2 hours,

Al the rollups I listed are available for Vista (I tested it). The update agent officially isn't but it is the same version Windows Update serves, so you can manually apply it.

AKER: Thanks for your efforts. Please don't give up on me. Tried twice to get Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320 but refused. " directory or file cannot be created". Can I try something else?

Is it an x86 or x64 bit Vista. Then I'll post direct links. You'll just have to download and run the files.

AKER: Thanks again for your efforts. x86,Vista 32 bit. I'll try again but I have my doubts. Went to MS Downloads when I tried. I had a 'kernel stack inpage error' with BSOD this morning. Could this be related?

AKER:

Thanks again for your help. I followed your instructions again and had different results this time. Everything ran but one of the KBs which replied 'does not apply to you'. After deleteing and re-running WSUSOU to create a new 'client' folder, I clicked the 'installer' . No updates were installed. "Searching for ids" was the last line with "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" in the line before it. Does this mean the WUA service is being used somewhere else? Hope you can help with this. Seems like we are nearing the end?

The "does not apply"-message can be ignored.
Do you have a screenshot of the cmd-window for me?
Could you retry after rebooting?
Where do you store wsusou?

AKER:
1.I did reboot.
2.WSUSOU is saved in 'downloads' on desktop.
3. See: two attachments. Please let me know if there are others you would want, besides these.
4. That line which had raised a question ( "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" ) did not show when I tried running the 'installer' again. I had gone to the Services folder and started every service thinking a needed service was not turned on, so that may be the reason the line did not appear again.
5. the 'client' installer has run over 2 hour now, with no updates being installed.
6. TCT/IPv6 is disabled. Does WSUSOU need this?
Please respond with other suggestions.
