Hanging on KB3138612

WSUS offline hangs on this update for hours. Manually stop the WU service then it will continue along. Once it reboots it continues updates but does not install KB3138612.

Stopping the WU service cancels the installation. If it hangs, please manually install the msu-file (double-click).

Yes, I assumed it would mess up the process. I have been following postby brnrds » 29.08.2016, 11:28Installer hangs KB3172605-x64.msu which is where I am stuck now. I cannot believe how broken windows update is.

I have checked the \w61-x64\glb path and see no sign of KB3138612 or KB3172605. Are they contained in another .cab or location?

Hi Corrco,

Are you using 10.7.3 of WSUS Offline Update? The files downloads are statically defined. After a download run with Win 7 x64 enabled, the searched files should lie as MSUs in the mentioned directory.

Maybe a look into ./log/download.log could help, too.

Yes, using 10.7.3. Have tried from USB stick and from network share with the same result. Funny thing is on one system the update goes through and seems to have completed, but mostly I find it hanging on one update or another. I will try and create the repo again and verify the files exist before trying the process again.

BTW I checked the update log and the files hanging the process do not show as being downloaded. I am renaming the repo and starting over with new download of WSUSOI. Will see if files exist in repo and post result.

I suspect the issue happened when V1061 updated to V1073. Re-downloading and generating a new repo seems to have resolved the missing cabs.

Does seem to be running quite smoothly now. I will keep running it on further systems to make sure and update results.
