getting errors when installing missing updates.

Hi I hope someone can help as I'm getting several errors as follows.

"A component file doesn't match the verification information present in the component manifest." error 14028
possibly kb307861 the error happens after that.


Then it lists ids of missing updates where I get more errors.

The most common of these is "The Remote Procedure Call Failed" error:1726

after attempting all the updates the PC restarts and attempts to install the updates, it then fails the config and reverts the updates.

I've tried this several times with fresh downloads of WSUS latest version but with the same results.
This is a clean install of W7 64bit Pro sp1

I have no ideas where to go from here, windows update just never even finds any updates it just keeps searching for hours.

Well I ended up reinstalling W7 for the 10th time this weekend and tried a fresh install of WSUS.
This time I only got 21 updates and then it failed completely on missing updates, it just hung for an hour before I quit it.
Restarting didn't help.
Also at one point I did see a message about the Hash mismatch in Cab2, I'm not sure of the exact words.
(I don't know how to check Hash files)

After messing around with this for a few more hours Windows Update sprang to life and with a little coaxing I got all but 6 to install.

There are sometimes problems with the Microsoft catalog file wsusscn2.cab, especially if a new version of this file is due. Since we are now on the second Tuesday of this month, which was the official patch day before Windows 10, we may have to look at this again.

Please do some very specific tests with the file wsusoffline/client/wsus/wsusscn2.cab:

What are the file size and modification date?

What are the file checksums? You can get this information from the file wsusoffline/client/md/hashes-wsus.txt. This is a csv-formated file with fingerprints of the downloaded files. Simple copy the line for wsusscn2.cab.

Please check the logfile wsusoffline/log/download.log: When was the file wsusscn2.cab downloaded last? Copy that line or the complete section as well.

Check the integrity of the file wsusscn2.cab manually:

1. Open a command prompt window
2. Change to the directory wsusoffline/bin
3. Run the command:

   sigcheck.exe -h ..\client\wsus\wsusscn2.cab


4. Select and copy the output with the context menu (right-click in the command prompt window) and post it here.

This is still the file from last month. I have exactly the same file with the same modification date and file checksums. It should be okay, as far as I know. But then the error messages probably have some other reason.

If you repeat the download today, you will get a new version of the file wsusscn2.cab:

Looks like some hash-files are damaged. You could delete the content of .\client\md and rerun the download part of wsusoi. It should fix the problem.
