WSUS stuck on Determining Windows Licensing

WU on Windows 7 is currently really slow. There is not much you could do, to decrease the required time. Currently (Windows Updates 04-2016 for a W7 System with all Updates until 2016-03 took 2h on my computer).

Just as a note: You are able to get an ISO-file from MS, if you have a valid product key.

aker, WU does seem to be taking much longer to list updates than with last month's updates. I also have a PC that had all current updates up to and including 2016-03, which took only about 10 minutes to list the updates last time, now took 31 minutes for the 2016-04 updates. This is a Windows 7 SP1 x64 PC with a i3-4130 @ 3,4 GHz, 8 Gigs of RAM, and a SSD, so not slow by any means. I can imagine that on slower PCs the listing could take very long indeed.

Anybody have any ideas on why the difference from last month, or how to troubleshoot this? I already tried using a fresh installation of wsusoffline 10.6.1 and re-downloading all updates, but no joy.

After installing KB3145739 and reboot the search for further updates should be much quicker.

Thank you Denniss! This patch also worked well for me. On a Windows 7 PC patched up to 2016-03, the listing of missing updates was not finished after an hour. I terminated the script, installed the patch, rebooted, and restarted WU. It finished the listing in 7 minutes.

Thank you. Windows Update did take a while but it worked. Very pleased.

I do have a valid product key, but my desktop came with Win7 preinstalled. Microsoft website says to contact computer manufacturer. Is there a way I can still download the ISO?
