A trouble not solved just (even) after forum registration

I know, the subject sounds funny.
When I was trying a offline update download for win7x64 with 10.6 version of the application.
I was encountering a common problem, when procedure reaches the step :
" Determining superseded updates (please be patient, this will take a while)..."

with an undefined waiting time with no in/out internet traffic and no any evidence of progress.

I am using Comodo AV.
Attempts to suspend av check for the WSUS offline update folder, and for updategenerator.exe
does not solve anything.
then i tried a complete turn-off of the real time av check and i tried again apparently with no changes
despite the risky AV off procedure...
I left the updategenerator in his apparently dumb state and i turned on back the realtime AV scanning
(i performed also a quick scan) and I decided to register an account here to write about my experience but..
After almost 8 minutes i had the message:
"Done"

:o Now the process seems to working over:

"Downloading/validating update 1 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 2 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 3 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 4 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 5 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 6 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 7 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 8 of 36...
Downloading/validating update 9 of 36..."

It seems the registration procedure at this forum, made the difference
PROBABLY the *risky* turning-off AV real time scanning should be responsible too 8-)

Updates next soon, i'm still waiting to see with my eyes a completed download/validating phase :ugeek:

Determining superseded updates takes ~4 minutes here. It depends on computer resources (8 cores and 32GiB RAM here).

I fear, showing a progress would slow the already dead slow operation further down. :(

On the sunny side, until the wsusscn2.cab from MS is changed, the superseded updates stay cached.

Thank you for the answer; :geek:
for sure, without Comodo AV real time scanning suspension, I was waiting approx 4-5 hours with no evidence of any progress. :x
Now the AV real time scanning is ON. But i kept the exception for AV scanning on folder and file created by Updategenerator.exe.
The update is proceeding and is now at the phase:
"Removing NTFS alternate data streams for w61-x64 glb...
Verifying digital file signatures for w61-x64 glb..."

Probably, during the "AV free" time, the program got liberty and data enough to complete operations.
I'll update how things will works, the finish line have been not already reached. 8-)

Well, process completed. ;)
After that, I repeated the process to create an ISO: just some warning concerning the lenght of the path but I think I have no chances
to correct and/or prevent this potential issue. :?
Now, the second leg: I have to try to install the updates. :!:
The adventure continues. :geek:
Updates will comes.

Yes, some AV software will interfere with the operation, usually by scanning the scripts over and over.

If the length of paths is too big (Windows API has problems with path lengths >~260 characters) some updates might not make it to the ISO. The problem is that update names themselves are quite long alone (since the SHA1 is appended), it's best to have WSUSOU in a short path like X:\wsusou.

Ah ok, good to know before.
I just burned a dvd with the updates: now I am trying to use it.
First, as you can imagine, Comodo AV required an exceptions in the Antivirus section,
you have just to put the entire path of the disc in the folder exclusions and the updateinsteller.exe :geek:

in the application exclusions list
, or if you would execute you'll receive back a lot of errors advices
until a mortal
"unrecognised OS" error which will stop the update process.

Consider i had a win7x64 almost fresh installing (just took some manual kb* update)
so my updating disc is about 3,2GB, :!:
then... the updating process is running up. :|
Next updates about the process: asap.

Please check, if dism.exe is running.
If no, just cancel the installation and reboot your computer; if yes, check, how much RAM it is using.

Well, some things to say...
I tried a lot of combinations/exclusion in the Updateinstaller.exe menu:
When the program try to instal the Essentials, it appears a warning about the
wlesetup-all-ita not found. In fact, for some reaseon this package have not been downloaded by downloader, but the deutsch and english file are present. :o
Then i solved changing a line in the Doupdate file, :geek:

Code: Select all
rem *** Install Windows Essentials 2012 ***
rem set WLE_FILENAME=..\wle\wlsetup-all-%OS_LANG%.exe
set WLE_FILENAME=..\wle\wlsetup-all-enu.exe

forcing the installing of the english version. The Essential installing have been done.

Then, the updateinstaller.exe hangs for some other reason.
When i restart the updateinstaller, also with the AV disabled, i have this answer:

Code: Select all
Starting WSUS Offline Update (v. 10.6) at 23:20:16,77...
Checking user's privileges...

Verifying integrity of Windows Update catalog file...
hashdeep64.exe: Audit passed
23:20:34,71 - Listing ids of missing updates (please be patient, this will take
a while)...

:(
Any ideas?

Use
Code: Select all
.\cmd\AddCustomLanguageSupport.cmd ita
to add ita support.
MS increased the number of updates, revisions and supersedences to a value, which is too high for WUA to handle in a fast way.
You may try to install the updates listed here (might fix the problems):
