Updating WSUS 10.1 to 10.2.1 it downloaded all patches again

Hi,
In Australia we have capped Bandwith plans and so have to be careful with what we download. Sucks I know.

Last night downloaded WSUS offline 10.2.1 to upadate my older version of 10.1.

I downloaded the zipped http://download.wsusoffline.net/wsusoffline1021.zip

As all the downloads are downloaded to the client folder I just copied the client folder and pasted it to the new 10.1 unzipped files.

I left it to run overnight to update and in the morning it downlaoded ALL THE OFFICE 2013 FILES AND WINDOWS 10 FILES AGAIN using a totoal of 5 gb of data.

What did I do wrong? How do I update to later versions without downloading ALL THE PATCHES AGAIN. I have googled for a solution but cannot find info on this.

Any info would be greatly valued.

Looks like the timestamps broke, when you copied the files. Please use wsusou's self-update function to minimize the risk of double downloads (at every download run and if you start .\cmd\UpdateOU.cmd).

@aker: I have changed nothing and on ofc there were 220 dynamically determined updates for ofc glb - many Downloads - strange .

The last run before was on 8.10.2015 !

Lots of (and rather large) Officeupdates on last Patchday. I have the same DLs in my log + the asian language Ime files.

aker I'm really thankful for your reply. The tool is great and I didn't know it had a self updater.

You saved me a lot of time in the future.

I had no idea that running the UpdateOU.cmd would do an auto update.

I'm sure I will have no problems in the future. For others wanting to update go to the location where to downloaded and double click or right click it and open it. I will update the new version in a few seconds and not risk to changing time stamps and making WSUS download all the files again.

My location of E:\Downloads\wsusoffline\wsusoffline\cmd for example and the file is in there UpdateOU.cmd to run.

To those posting below lots of Windows 10 updates and office updates came out a few days ago.

Not only that but a completly new build of Windows 10 has came out. I used the media creation tool to make a new .iso and usb install. http://www.windowscentral.com/windows-1 ... uild-10586 has info on the new build. You can use windows update to upgrade or like me download the usb install and then I can update the 7 windows 10 computers I have at home. You can do an upgrade or clean install.

Again thanks so much for the help AKER. A small suggestion to the coders of wsusoffline. For newbs like me building the updater into the UpdateGenerator.exe file would make it easier.

The self-updater is included in UpdateGenerator, but it runs AFTER you pressed the Start-button.

So basically just run the program and it auto updates before doing anything.
