Centralized Offline Update Location

Centralized Offline Update Location

Postby caymanjb » 20.02.2015, 21:21

Hi All,

First of all, excellent product.

I was wondering if there were any tips to centralize this client from a shared folder or new server instance were I could pull the latest updates to a VM template? Would it just be a case of:
-Setting up a share
-Update the offline updater on the shared location every patch Tuesday from MS Corp.
-Open up the VM template and navigate to that share and just simply update?

Comments/Thoughts?

Thanks again...

Welcome caymanjb,
yes; that's everything you need to do.

But remember to mount your network drive using administrative rights, when using the UpdateInstaller, else it does not work.

Some references, which might be useful:

Thanks aker...

If i have 2008 and 2012 vm templates, would I then just setup 2 different wsus folders for the updater?

I would use the same one. Just select both systems.
