Not update win XP

Not update win XP

Postby whitetiger » 07.10.2014, 17:42

For a problem of power supply during the update of WSUSOL the external HD that contained updates is damaged, but at least I had saved the ISO of XP.
Yesterday I then launched yet WSUSOL from a new HD and I was regenerated all the updates for the various operating systems and Office.
Today I tried to upgrade a virtual machine with XP Home SP3 and installed Office Ultimate 2007 with SP.

I first connected the ISO of XP and I launched UpdateInstaller.
Obviously in the first rows it showed " Medium does not support Microsoft Office". Then "Listing ids of missing updates"
After 12 minutes it shows "Info: Skipping update kb2526086 (Office Service Pack 3) due to matching black list entry"
Then there are 20 warning and then it returns to the prompt.
So, no update was done in XP.

Then from the new external HD I launched UpdateInstaller selecting no options, but it just showed "Error: Unsupported Operating System <wxp>"
So, no update also for Office.

Is there a manner to manage this issue?
Thanks in advance.

The support for Windows XP and Office 2003 was removed after wsusou 9.2.1.

In this post there is written
1) Soon after April 8th, 2014, execute a download run for Windows XP using the most recent version of WOU,
2) create an ISO image and
3) keep it! :)

And I have created and kept the ISO

In my post I've written:
1) I launched WSUSOL from an ISO previously created just from WSUSOL, but this doesn't update the OS.
So, why I have to keep this ISO?

2) I launched WSUSOL from the HD to update Office 2007 but doesn't update Office because OS is unsupported.
If Office is installed in XP how can I update it?

My opinion is that if in the PC there is XP with Office, the only XP ISO does not work because in the ISO there are no updates for Office, and vice versa if the only WSUSOL does not work because there are not those of XP.
Is there a way to copy files from the ISO to the WSUSOL folder so that there are still both?
In this manner the UpdateInstaller find all the updates, for XP and Office.

You have to update o2k7 using wsusou 9.2.1, if you are running wxp.

You can try removing the line
Code: Select all
if "%OS_NAME%"=="wxp" goto UnsupOS

(line 122) from DoUpdate.cmd in a newer version of wsusou.

Thanks, later I will do the test.
But also others will have my same problem and they will use WSUSOL to update different PCs with different Windows and Office.
I understand that we can no longer download updates for XP, but why now we can no longer use WSUSOL to update the PC with the updates that we have already downloaded?

In any case with Windows Update yesterday I was still able to upgrade my XP SP3, at least regarding the .NET frameworks and other updates.

Finally I asked in my previous post, now how can I do a join between the new updates downloaded with WSUSOL and those in the ISO of XP?

Just copy the o2k7 and ofc folder from .\client to your new copy of wsusou.
For other platform codes  viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3848
Then delete all files inside .\client\md.
