Office 2013 x64 mis-identified

Hi.

Do you have a registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook"?
If so, please check the value "Bitness".
If not, you haven't installed Outlook, so WOU defaults to x86, since this reg value seems to be the only way to properly detect the Office architecture.

Anyway, the cab files WOU applies after SP1 should install fine since they're independent of architecture.

Hello.
I have the same kind of problem, but the only difference is that I have Office 2010 x64 installed, but without Outlook, 'cause I don't need it. Can somebody fix the installation script of wsusoffline, which is responsible for proper detection of office's bitness?

There's probably no easy way to detect the Bitness of office installations without that Outlook Registry Key..

I haven't installed Outlook because I don't use it. I'll add it now and test wsusoffline again.

I'll post the results later today.

If Outlook is the only part wsus can determine the arch, that will be the problem I suppose..

I'll try it now.

Thx so far !

Updater is running, after installing Outlook, and it looks good this way..

Code: Select all
Found Microsoft Office 2013 Word version: 15.0.4605.1001 (o2k13 x64 nld sp1)

It seems OK now.

So not installing Outlook seems the reason the script fails to correct identify Office 2013.

Why is Windows Update able to detect is correct even without Outlook installed ?

Thx for the support, it seems OK now :-)

Lots of approaches to detect 32/64Bit but not all seem to work due to the multitude of office versions and custom installs without Outlook.

Couldn't we safely assume that on an x64 system with Office installed in Program Files, it must be an x64 version? 32bit versions usually install into Program Files (x86), AFAIK the 64bit version uses both.

Of course, mixed installations would blow up all detection attempts...

Edit: Maybe it's possible to detect through a WMIC call? Like 'WMic product list' that shows installed programs?

OK, arch is detected correct... seems to be.. ran updategenerator again to make sure all is up to date.

wsusoffline seems up to date, runs all selected options without additional loading...

ran updater, updated 3 office files (lync and 2 others) now x64 is detected correct...

ran windows update itself to check, seems that wsusoffline is missing a whole lot of available updates ?

what else is wrong on ?

WSUSOU only installs security-critical updates. Optional, feature and non-critical patches aren't listed in MS' catalog and thus left out.

OK, but the ones you see are 'belangrijk' which is dutch for important or critical, don't know exactly what the ENU version of Windows states there in WU... It are certainly no 'additional' updates..
