Win XP Greek problem

Win XP Greek problem

Postby bobo1704 » 04.12.2013, 13:23

Hello!
I'm trying to download the latest updates for Windows XP Greek via v8.8, but it is stuck for about 11 hours in "Veryfying digital signatures of Windows Update Agent installation and catalogue files". I send you a screenshot of the current state after 11 hours. Thank you a lot.

Please install the following two updates:
http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe
http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/6/C/46C2EDE9-4CA4-4BED-9E2D-65934FA19407/rvkroots.exe

Then try it again.

I downloaded these two updates and installed them, but the problem persists. I also tried the program on another PC with Windows XP installed, but the same problem occurs. Both PCs' installed operating systems language is greek. So, is there any possibility that it is a bug with the greek language OSes? Until v7 of WSWS Offline Updater, everything was working without any problem. From v8 appeared this problem and I try every new release, but the issue exists.
Thank you a lot!

This is the log's file contents after the cancelling of the proccess...

Is it a modified Windows XP installation (nLite...)?

No, one PC has got Windows 7 Starter SP1 OEM untouched and the second one has got Windows XP Pro SP3 OEM untouched. Both of them are in Greek language... I use Junk files cleaner and registry cleaner in regular basis. Maybe, some files or registry entries that needed have been deleted?

From your log above this line is strange:
Code: Select all
’œ« 04/12/2013 23:55:15,44 - Info: Found sigcheck.exe version 1... (common options: /accepteula -q -v)

It seems that the Windows Scripting Host (WSH) does not work correctly or the file .\bin\sigcheck.exe is corrupt.

On working installations this line should looks like
Code: Select all
05.12.2013 12:43:56,80 - Info: Found sigcheck.exe version 2.1.0.0 (common options: /accepteula -q -c)

or
Code: Select all
04.12.2013 16:02:29,10 - Info: Found sigcheck.exe version 1.92.0.0 (common options: /accepteula -q -v)
for older installations with an older version of sigcheck.exe.

You're right! Scripting Host was deactivated. I reactivated it and everything works now! Thank you very much for your support and keep up the good work!!

@WSUSUpdateAdmin
Hier wäre eine explizite Prüfung sinnvoll, die bei fehlerhafter Version von sigcheck den Download-Versuch abbricht.

Viele Grüße

Oder den Download der aktuellen Version erneut veranlasst.
