Installation error message

Installation error message

Postby ChrisH » 21.08.2016, 18:25

I have downloaded the latest update 10.7.3, but when i run Update Generator I receive an error message "The script path must not be more than 192 characters long and must not contain any of the following characters: !%&^+,;= ".

This is strange, as I used the download perfectly on my other PC. I cannot get past this error message. Can you advise, please?

You need to do exactly as the error says: Check the path of WSUSOU, it must be shorter than or equal to 192 characters (as Windows API has a ~260 character limit for paths), and it must not contain any of those characters or blanks (they have a special meaning in the scripts).

also brackets can cause this problem. for example you create a new folder on the desktop and its named "New folder (2)" then the update generator will not work. try renaming the root folder "WOU" or something like that. see if that helps
