I went to the Microsoft Update website after recently updating a Windows XP x64 VM with WOU trunk-r512 that contained security updates up to 10/21.
It found a bunch of things missing from Windows Media security updates:
KB2378111, KB978695, KB954155, KB973540, KB952069, KB941569, KB939683, KB929399

Here's a screenshot:

Thanks

Please download the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyser and use it to search for updates.
It uses wsusscn2.cab (like wsusou) to determine missing updates. So we can find out, if it is a problem with wsusou or the wsusscn2.cab.

Does it find any updates?

I did that and it says there are no missing updates. Here is a screenshot:

After that I went back to Microsoft Update and it says no updates are needed now, so I'm not sure what happened. I checked the WOU log and it shows Windows Media Player security updates have been installed multiple times (once for each time I ran WOU in the past): KB2378111, KB978695, KB954155, KB973540, KB952069, KB941569.

I'm using the OS in a VM so I also went back to a snapshot of after I upgraded to SP2 but before I ever ran WOU or connected to the internet. I ran WOU (v. 8.6+ (r512)) and after it applied all the updates I went to Microsoft Update and I didn't see any missing security updates. Of course that may be because I hadn't yet installed Windows Media Player 11. But anyway maybe it was just a bug or temporary thing. Whatever it is it's gone now I think because I can't reproduce it.
