Win 7 doesn't seem updated

@AuntieCatherine
Welcome to the forum!

WSUS Offline did install updates, but only the so-called scan prerequisites and apparently .NET 4.6.2. Rerun UpdateInstaller until it says "Nothing to do", and reboot the system when WSUS Offline tells you to.

The two updates that were installed in the first run (KB3177467 and KB3172605) should definitely show up in the list of Installed Updates, and in this case even in Update History (because they're MSUs).

The log clearly says, that wsusou is not done yet.
Code: Select all
19/05/2017 22:56:55.96 - Info: Installation successful (Updates pending)
19/05/2017 22:56:55.98 - Info: Ending WSUS Offline Update

Please rerun the utility until it reports "Nothing to do"

Sorry to be an ignoramus, but by the utility do you mean generator, installer or both

Thanks for answering

Please try the following:
Check, if there is a lot activity in the Task Manager (50% CPU activity, if you have 2 CPU cores; 25%, if you have 4 cores; ...). If no, wait...
Close the CMD-window.
Open up Windows Update and set it to "Never search for updates".
Reboot
Rerun wsusou.
As soon as wsusou finishes, you may set Windows Update to the settings it was before.

To answer your previous question: you don't have to rerun the generator until new updates have been released or a wsusou update is available.

Hi, me again, I'm afraid

I switched off windows updater, now wsusou as been stuck for the last two hours at
"Listing ids of missing updates <please be patient, this will take a while>..."

should I be more patient or has something else going wrong?

TIA

Did you reboot after setting to "Never search"?

@AuntieCatherine:
What does C:\Windows\wsusofflineupdate.log (or C:\Windows\system32\wuaueng.dll) say about the version of the Windows Update Agent? Did you check in Installed Updates whether or not KB3177467 and KB3172605 are listed there? If not: did you see something like "Rolling back changes" when you rebooted the system?

The version is 10.9.2. The log ends, "Ending WSUS Offline Update for w61 1glb"

Neither of the KBs you mention show up, nor did the message you mention

Obviously I have done something wrong, I just can't work out what - sigh

Not WSUS Offline but the Windows Update Agent. You can find this info in the log I mentioned or the properties of the file I mentioned above. The log line starts with
Code: Select all
Found Windows Update Agent version:

Neither of the KBs you mention show up, nor did the message you mention

That doesn't make sense. Either the updates have been installed, then they must be listed in Installed Updates*, or the updates' installation has been rolled back, then the system must have shown a message like the one I mentioned. I don't know the exact wording because I don't use English language Windows.

*) Note that Windows Update > View Installed Updates is a different list than WIndows Update > View Update History. Most updates installed by WSUS Offline won't show up in the history but will be listed in the former.
