I need some advice. I am having all kinds of problems with the regular windows updates for my W7/SP1 Home and Pro computers. It gets hung up on Searching for Updates or when it finds updates, it keeps saying downloading but staying at 0%. I did a repair/install of Windows and it worked for a month and now same thing.

My question: I assume I can use WSUS Offline. Do I specify SP1 when I d/l updates via WSUS (I already have SP1 update)? Also, lets say it d/l 400 updates bur 350 are already installed. Will it just install the remaining 50 and hence not take too long? If so, that may be my new way of updating my machines.

If you do not intend to update machines without SP1 you do not need to download it.

WSUSOU Installer will analyze the target machine and determine the missing updates. Only those will be installed.

Update determination uses Windows Update, however. Although WSUSOU installs prerequisite updates to shorten the search time, results might be mixed.

Just to make sure I understand:

Since my computer already has W7 with SP1, I don't need to check the box that says include service packs. Correct?

I'm not sure what you mean by:

As I said, I am having a problem in that Windows Update Searching for Updates can take forever. Does this mean your WSUS offline will also take that long?

Thanks very much for your help

wsusou tries to workaround the long search issue, but I cannot promise, that it works on all machines. If your search takes more than 120 minutes, please try to install all the updates listed in: http://trac.wsusoffline.net/browser/tag ... re-w61.txt
