Stalled on Listing ids of missing updates

I have been trying this for 5 days now. Stalled on Listing ids of missing updates. I have read & tried many "fixes" for this but none have worked.
I am trying to update Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 32 bit. Windows update goes nowhere it just checks for updates forever. (I have left it run more than 24 hours) it never shows the updates. I have let wsusoffline run for more than 24 hours. it just stalls at Listing ids of missing updates. Anyone have any idea how too fix this & get the Windows updates working again?

I have the same problem. Three different systems Vista 32, Vista 64 and W7 64bit. It is not only You.

Disable automatic windows updates and reboot, then start our tool again. If it works now please follow instruction regarding reboot and recalling. If "nothing more to do" appears re-enable automatic windows updates.

"Disable automatic windows updates and reboot, then start our tool again." I have tried that 6 times. Still stalled, no progress.

It seems our most recent version does not contain a prerequisite update for Windows Vista and the 9/2016 patchday (still on 8/2016 level).
According to the site below Vista users shall install KB3185911 to reduce search times.

Same effect here, 20 hours waiting time, automatic Windows updates turned off. Tried with virtualbox-4.3.40, virtualbox-5.0.26, virtualbox-5.1.6. Each a fresh Windows 7 Prof installation with just vbox drivers added. High load on 1 CPU, persists.

Could you post the last 5-10 lines of C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log and the time, when you copied them?

I was able to get past the same issue by installing the updates mention here: http://wu.krelay.de/en/

Just make sure you turn OFF the windows update service before you download/install them manually. Also, I run wsusoffline as an administrator. Don't know if that makes any difference.

Also worth noting, it took my older (AMD 4600+) machine about a half hour to get through the process.

I was able to get past the listing ids of missing updates by going to the above mentioned website http://wu.krelay.de/en/ and installing the 12 updates listed for win7x64. I had the computer on for 20 hours and it didn't get past it. That time didn't include all my previous trial and tribulations of this stupid win 7 update issue.
I had already run the program to get all the updates so I didn't repeat downloading them. I ran the update installer program and it got past the listing ids of missing updates problem in a minute or so. The machines now are installing the downloaded updates.
I also did turn off windows defender and windows updates previous to the stall. They are still off. I will turn them back on once the installation is complete.
Typically after re-installing windows 7 it would take at the max 24 hrs to find and install the updates. For this re-installation my 3 identical win7x64 professional laptops were not receiving updates after 36 hrs. So then I started researching this problem.
It appears it's finally solved.
Thanks so much,
Dave

Have the same problem here, Windows 7 32-bit works OK but Vista 32-bit hangs when listing
missing updates even after 15 hours of running.
Is it possible to manually add the correct prerequisite update? Or do I have to wait for a new
release?
