Update successful?

Postby layman » 07.08.2016, 04:18

Hello,

I have used WSUS Offline to update my Windows Vista because the regular Update-Function of the OS didn't work.

To update I started UpdateGenerator.exe and now I can see in the directory \client\w60\.. like over 1.5 GB downloaded.

Did the downloaded files install themselves? The whole process took quite a while so I didn't really pay attention to what was going on.
In another forum I was told to start UpdateInstaller.exe. Is that true? Well, I don't know if anything installed already and I don't want to double-install.

Any help appreciated :)

UpdateGenerator.exe just downloads the updates. For installation please use .\client\UpdateInstaller.exe.
wsusou will dynamically determine the missing updates and install them. This will take some reboots and time, too, but we're always working on working around the problems MS introduced into the Windows Update catalog files.
