Windows 7 updating issues...

Postby mjl1297 » 31.07.2016, 16:43

I downloaded this program thinking that it would help with downloading and installing updates for my Win 7 Pro 64 bit OS since the updates would not download from Microsoft period. Apparently I was mistaken in thinking this program would help unless I am doing something wrong. I downloaded the updates and am running the installer module right now. It's been stuck installing one update for some time now (upwards of fifteen minutes as I type this). When is it safe to quit the installer module? Also, how do I reverse what WSUS has downloaded onto my machine if it isn't going to do the job I expected it to?

Please try the following:
Disable Windows update (set it to never search for updates) and reboot your machine - this is an atempt to rule out windows update service as cause for the hang. Try to run our Update Installer again. If it still hangs please state at which update (KB number).

Thanks for your response. It did finally run. I didn't realise you had to run the installer multiple times to get it to install all or most of the updates. I started out with 80 important updates and 7 optional ones. Now when I run the installer it goes through its routine and tells me their are no updates left and that one of them is blacklisted after which it terminates itself.

However, Windows updates tells me I still have 15 important updates and 6 optional ones left. Can you explain that? Since WSUS lists one as blacklisted and can't find the others, should I let them alone and not install them?

I've attached screenshots of the updates that WU insists are still waiting to be installed although WSUS does not see them apart from the blacklisted one--

Is there an ongoing and regularly updated thread that explains why certain updates are blacklisted?

This Exclude list may need some review, the first entry and S2k3 SP2 are for non-supported OS. One should doublecheck the Win10 exclusions
