Updating Windows 7 SP1

Updating Windows 7 SP1

Postby Krnivoro » 08.05.2016, 16:18

May be this has been answered before. If it has just please send me a link.

The thing is: If I install W7 with SP1 "embedded", I assume there is no need to download Service Pack 1 within WSUS updates. My question is if WSUS download ALL updates, even previous updates than SP1, or just the updates released AFTER SP1 (I assume SP1 is actually a "pack" of updates released before it).

I'm sorry but I´m confused with all that Service Pack thing. For example what happens if I install that client update (without SP1 included) in a Fresh install of Windows 7 WITH NO SP1.

Thanks for clarifying.

WOU requires SP1 to be installed on Win7 or it will install it. It downloads only past-SP1 updates.
Running WOU on Win7 without SP1 but also having SP1 not downloaded either results in an error message or it will install only a very limited amount of updates.

Perfect. Then the best thing to do is having WOU with SP1 included, so the update process will be OK regardless the kind of W7 installation on the target PC.
For you words, I understand that SP1 it is not installed if is already present on the target PC. Is it?

Thanks for your reply.

Exactly; just required updates will be installed.
