How long should it take to install updates?

I started the update installer, it went through all the prereqs and began installing the first update, but it hasn't progressed beyond that point. Just a blinking _. How long is reasonable to let it sit before starting over?

Looks like I have to restart a lot

Each update takes only a few seconds up to a minute.

Please note that depends on available computer power and resources. On weaker machines, especially .NET updates can take a long time.

I was having to restart about every 2nd update and than after it installed IE 11 it wouldn't progress any further. Got a bunch of errors. Tried Windows Update again and it updated perfectly!
