Not working/quality deteriorating exponentially

Postby ShadowWizard1 » 26.04.2016, 18:49

Honestly the only reason I use this is because I can't find anything that works better... when this works.
Again, I don't know whats going on. One one computer, it installs one update, and just hangs there on the second. I reboot. It installed the next update, and hangs there on the second. Again reboot, lather, rinse, repeat. WTF?

On another computer, that has a SSD just to mention, hangs at "Listing available updates, this may take a while" I have never had it take as long as this computer is taking. The way this is going, it seems like it would be faster to use the normal update procedure.
Both these computers run Windows 7.
Am I the only one having these issues with this program? What information do i need to provide to help resolve this? I am at the point I would gladly donate a fair bit for this software if it would just work without me having to fight with it all the time.

Hi ShadowWizard,

Please donate directly to Microsoft, as they don't seem to be able to invest enough money, to take care of the ever growing update catalog and the poor working update services. ;) On the other hand, maybe they don't want users to move to external update services like WSUS Offline Update (WOU). So it is better to keep your money.

To get serious: WOU depends on Windows' update services and the extremly large catalog wsusscn2.cab. Torsten (author of WOU) and some board members are fighting for many months now against the problems related to these resource-eating components by MS. Almost every month there's the need for another workaround.

The issues depend very much on the computer's main memory, the processor power, and even on the installed virus scanner. So: You're not the only one having those issues. Always use the latest version of WOU to be sure to have appropriate workarounds.
