Hi,

I can't get the updater to run, please see below:

Starting WSUS Offline Update (v. 10.4) at 10:52:08.44...
Checking user's privileges...
Determining system's properties...

ERROR: Determination of OS properties failed.

Ending WSUS Offline Update at 10:52:11.23...

E:\Windows Update\cmd>

Following this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5206&p=16991&hilit=determination+of+os+properties+failed#p16991

I have the Windows Update service started in services.msc.

The following files exist:
- msi.dll
- mstsc.exe
- wuaueng.dll
- vbscript.dll

I have tried to run DetermineSystemsProperties.vbs in the console, please see below.
The first instance is the default file.
The second instance is the debugging version, the last alert I received was "set fso".
I don't come from an IT background so apologies for any misinterpretations.

Did you apply any modifications to your Windows? [especially WSH, WMI, WUA]
Something like RT7Lite/NTLite, Policies, ...

I don't think so. I recently re-installed Windows 7 (keeping files and settings), I have changed little since then.

I ran the Microsoft FixIt unfortunately makes no difference.

I am going to do another windows repair installation, unless you can suggest anything else.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm a little reserved about altering the Registry as it is not something that I understand.

I don’t mind doing a windows repair, but if I keep my files, settings, apps etc when I reinstall, does the Registry still get reset? I wondered if you might know.

I have not been able to run Windows Update for some while now, even after re-installing windows and following all the suggestions I could find online to fix it. I was hoping that your service might be the solution.

All Windows settings should be resetted to default when you reinstall Windows even if you keep your files.
