wsus has stalled while updating Win 7 x64 new install

Clean install of Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate. Used WSUS to download updates to client directory which completed. Running UpdateInstaller v 10.2.1.707, it has stalled after first reboot at:

Is wusa.exe/dism.exe running?

Is there any process causing high CPU/RAM usage? wuauclt.exe, svchost.exe, wusa.exe, TrustedInstaller.exe, dism.exe/dismhost.exe?

I checked the client directory for the file that seemed to cause the install - it was there, got impatient after waiting for updates to continue (~2 hrs) so exited out of the cmd window and rebooted. Googled for a solution and came across this post of interest http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/385734-update-issues-post3177298.html#post3177298. At the bottom of the post was:

Downloaded it and ran it successfully. Tried Windows Update and it continues to sit at "Checking for Updates ..." - closed it and rebooted. Seeing your post I then restarted UpdateInstaller.exe and it stalled at the same point. Opened Task Manager to review and answer your questions:
Wusa.exe/dism.exe was not running.
TrustedInstaller.exe was causing high CPU usage (~48% 0f 52% CPU usage) initially ( a few minutes) then
svchost.exe(netvcs) (~46% of 56% CPU usage) took over the high usage.
To our amazement 15 minutes later the updates continued. It is now sitting at ' Listing of ids of missing updates <please be patient, this will take a while> ...

Ran the same package on the same Win 7 x64 package on a laptop and all worked as expected. Again we've been sitting at
' Listing of ids of missing updates <please be patient, this will take a while> ...' for quite a while. Will leave both for a few hours now.

Eventually - many hours later - Update Installer (UI) continued and did complete successfully. Running Windows Update after, indicated immediately that there were 144 updates to be installed. WU did install all and has been run again with one more requiring install. Wow! success after 30 hours of effort. Running WU again to be sure the machine is current is showing a few more updates ... but all seems 'normal' once again.
The laptop eventually continued and then froze completely. Required a hard shutdown and restart, where UI continued on it's own ( as set at initial run) . Some time later a Windows error occurred requiring the program (WSUS I presume) to be terminated. Before we responded the computer restarted and UI again continued. Reboot occurred and UI didn't run so assume it completed successfully. Running WU and it's 'Checking for Updates ...' for at least an hour now. Will let it check all night and see in the morning. Set power options to never got to sleep too.

Thank you for the information, that KB3112343 replaces KB3102810. I just updated my post.

For some information: the slow search is most likely caused by the increasing number of updates and updates superseding others. For a workaround, please take a look at this topic: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5366
