Just finished running WSUS Offline on two identical netbooks. 1GB, Atom N270, 160GB (yes, the bare minimum for 7 but it runs fine on these units). I ran one installation from a USB stick and the other from a network share. As I mentioned in another thread, both hung for extended periods at "listing ids of missing updates...," but that's been explained to me.
Once that delay was conquered things went smoothly until I started getting a bunch of "Error: 14" stuff. Apparently not enough memory. This makes sense since in the last 6 months or so I rarely get through an entire round of running updates from MS without having to manually power down and reboot after about 130 or 140 updates are complete. I now assume this is the same memory issue but MS has nothing built into its process to tell me that. Anyway, the update process with WSUS Offline completed with some of these errors on each machine, then each machine powered down as instructed. But, of course, each was missing 10 - 20 updates due to the Error: 14 issue.
My question is this: Where does WSUS Offline store the installation log file? I assume there must be one but I can't find it. It would obviously be helpful to know which updates are first causing the memory errors so I can try to avoid them if possible.
Also, can I simply rerun WSUS Offline again after rebooting and get the missing updates to install (as opposed to checking updates with MS)?
Thanks!
