Clear WIN7 update - How long?

Hi! I downloaded update pack using WSUS and tried to install it. Listing ids of missing updates (or something like this) was EXTREMELY long (about 3 hours). Then smaller updates... It was running for 5 hours and at something about 80 of 130 my mom turned off computer. Is it possible to manually install downloaded updates or speed up this process? :c Please tell me what should I include to this topic. Thank you for all replies!

P.S.
I'm from Poland, so my English isn't as good as yours :)

There is no real option to speed up the process. Something, which often helps: disconnect the computer from the internet (if connected) and disable your anti-virus software [some programs are known to slow down the process]. The slow processes is not wsusou itself, the delay is caused by the Windows Update Agent determining the missing updates/installing it.
What hardware specifications does the computer have?

Okay, i will try it today. But is it possible to manually install every single update? Some of downloaded updates are executable, but most of them are cabinet files. Is it any way to install it manually? Computer specs are Intel Pentium Dual T3400 2.17 ghz, 2 gb of RAM and Nvidia 9200M GS (Yes, it's laptop).

Manually installing does not make the installation faster or slower, just more difficult. But often the speed increases the less updates need to be installed.

Just cancel the progress after 10-15 updates by closing the window. Before rebooting, please wait 5 minutes for the update to completely install.

Hi I'm new to wsus. I'm updating a win7 64bit clean install. How long does the listing ids of missing updates lasts. I'm worried because it has been 2 hours and I don't see a hardrive activity and very minimal network traffic. Thanks for the reply in advance

You don't need an internet connection for wsusou to run. The speed heavily depends on your hardware and if an AV program is installed and enabled.

Thanks for the reply. everything went smoothly. Fresh clean install with all updates and windows 10 upgrade offer. windows updates added some 59 updates plus optional updates. The overall process took me exactly 10 hours and 53 minutes (I timed it). Is there anyway to streamline it or tweak it to shave some time from the update process?

The longest process (determining missing updates) isn't even handled by wsusou's code; it's completely done by the Windows Update Agent (WUA). So it is difficult to tweak it. You may try the following:
1) Install .\client\wsus\WindowsUpdateAgent3.0-<architecture>.exe (or the *7.6* one from .\w61(-x64)\glb, when running Windows 7)
2) Manually install the most recent cumulative IE update (atm. this one: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/lib ... 5-093.aspx)
3) Delete .\client\wsus\wsusscn2.cab and start a new download run.
