Updating Error

I have used the program for a while now. When i run the program on windows 8 or 8.1 it keeps giving me a couldn't configure updates reverting changes msg. I have deleted the whole offline update folder and re downloaded a new version and downloaded a whole new package of updates. After i did that it keeps giving me the same error. Just wondering if there is any conclusion or updates on this error. thank you
