Is it normal to take 2 hours or more just to install the 9 prerequisites for IE 10/11?

It has been an hour and it has just started on the 4th update out of the 9 total. At that rate, it will be another hour and a half before it even finishes that section of updates.

I even turned verification off.

It's a Dell Dimension E521 with an Athlon 64 x2 Dual 3600+ cpu if that makes any difference.

Just curious why using WSUS offline always seems so slow, even now with the No Verification disabled. Internet speed is not the culprit either.

Maybe your AV program?
Could you retry with the AV software disabled and no internet connection.

There is no AV program, it is a fresh installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit.

Could the windows update be interfering with it? Is that why you suggest disabling the internet connection?

It just now finished the nine IE 10/11 prerequisite updates, rebooted twice, and is now starting the other updates, .Net, Root Certificates, etc

I started at 10:05 AM, and it is now 12:45 PM. Does that sound normal? Remember I have Verification turned off.

I suggest to disable the internet connection as your computer does not have the current security updates and there is no AV software installed / enabled and wsusou does not need an internet connection to install the updates.

You said, the installation itself is slow.
Just a test: take one of the .msu updates, wsusou wants to install, and install it manually. Does it install fast or slow?

Ill have to try that next time, it finished with all the updates at around 3:30PM today.

So about 5 and 1/2 hours for a clean windows 7 x64 with only SP1 preinstalled.

Does that seem typical?

My last wsusou update (including SP1) took < 2,5h; was an x86 machine, but this is no reason for about 5,5h.
