I keep having wsusoffline fail on the same few servers in our environment, but I can't figure out why.

other servers in the same environment with the same OS are working perfectly with all the servers updated from a single copy of wsusoffline on one server accessed via a UNC path.

I've had the same issues on these servers since day one over a 2 years ago, but despite many updates (and downloading a fresh new copy of wsusoffline more than once), they have never been able to update even though the account used has admin rights and there are no other issues.

they are in an isolated non-production environment anyway, so it's not a huge deal, but it would be nice to have them working.

wsusoffline runs fine, but at the end it gives me a list of all the updates it's tried and failed to install and after a reboot i get exactly the same number of patches failing to install.

is there a wsusoffline log i can look at (I couldn't find one) or is it just the windowsupdate log below?

can anyone see what might be the issue?

Is your UNC-path mounted as a network drive?

I've tried both, but it doesn't seem to make any difference, even tried copying it to the local server and running from there, but it's the same.

i'm also running the same copy from the same location on up to 20 win2k3 and 2k8 servers at a time without issue, other than the same few servers each time, even when no other servers are installing updates.

I've already seen those, but none of the causes of that specific error listed seem to be relevant to Windows updates (which would discount a lot of the potential causes), or to win2k3 and win2k8 which rules out most of the other causes that I can see listed.
