I'm using version 566 to update Vista VMs. The logfiles have a warning for Windows Defender:

Vista x86:
Code: Select all
Sat 03/15/2014 17:26:59.73 - Warning: Windows Defender definition file (..\wddefs\x86-glb\mpas-fe.exe) not found

Vista x64:
Code: Select all
Sat 03/15/2014 17:28:03.36 - Warning: Windows Defender definition file (..\wddefs\x64-glb\mpas-feX64.exe) not found

Is that anything to worry about? Thanks

Your Vista installation has the useless Defender active but the Oflline updates were downloaded without including signature updates for the defender.

Yes, you're right. Is there any harm in including the definitions? will WSUSOU install Windows Defender on any computers that don't have it installed if I include the definitions or are they just used if the computer already has windows defender?

No harm to include the Defender definitions, they will only be installed on systems where Defender is active.

...and only if the definitions are outdated.
