Hi

Iam new to this WSUS and desperate to get it working,

I have a fully updated win 7 x64 pro machine and a stock installed win 8.1 x64 Pro machine

I created the installation USB stick (about 5Gb in size) on the win7 machine for win 8/7/Vista and office versions too.. this went fine.. when i finally located the "update installer.exe" (as no instructions I could see said it would be in the client folder) I ran it on windows 7 after removing an update on purpose to test it, it said that the update was missing but never continued to installed it? when I ran windows update check it found the missing update and offered to install it??

so.. I plug it into a freshly installed win8.1 machine with updates set to "let me decide when to download and install them" (and it says theres quite a few to be installed) - I run WSUSo and it says that all is fine? yet according to win8 theres many updates to install?

can someone help a noob with this please?

Always remember, that wsusou will just install security relevant updates.

What updates are listed as missing?

Please post the content of .\log\download.log and the content of the file C:\Windows\wsusofflineupdate.log of each computer.

Iam looking for something that installs ALL windows updates that are missing from the machine...is this not what im looking for? shame it looks like a fantastic little app.

does this install all "important" updates and not "recommended" ones?

You don't need to translate that page, the post has two parts - a German and an English one.

Basically wsusou uses the catalog file wsusscn2.cab and some static lists to determine the updates to download and install.
This will install all security relevant updates (the ones listed in wsusscn2.cab) and a few special updates (Internet Explorer 11 etc.).

so would this basically install all windows updates from a freshly opened win8 computer that Iam preparing for a customer? (leaving only 3rd party updates like GPU, Audio etc to be checked)

or will it install the 'security' ones that fix security holes but no other win updates?

edit: ok ive read it, great program...is there any reason you can get it to install the non-security updates?

It is not possible to include the non-security updates since Microsoft does not provide a catalog file containing them.

It will only cover the updates the MBSA tool detects as missing. Usually severity rating Critical or High.
