Checking to see if some updates are included

I have a list of updates that all of our client workstations need to have, for them to continue to work after a scheduled Office 365 upgrade.

I'd like to (1) check if those updates are included in WSUS Offline (i.e. if they are critical/security) and then (2) add in the extra ones.

I'm not sure how to do (1), could anyone please recommend where I should look?

For (2), http://forums.wsusoffline.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3536&p=10234&hilit=adding+updates#p10234 are the clearest set of instructions I've found, but I'm not sure how to go from the list of KBs that I have, to the point where I have the download links to insert into - static/custom/StaticDownloadLink-wxp-x86-glb.txt and -wxp-x86-it.txt (and similar for W7).

Where can I find the download links, please? [EDIT - this question about download links is solved, question 1 in this post is still a mystery for me]

Go to the MS Download Center, choose the update and click "Download". Then copy the URL of the link "Start download". That is the URL you need.

Thanks aker, that sounds nice and easy, I can get all those links.

(1) I'm searching the forums here to try and find out what I should name the files - in the thread I linked to, the file was called staticdownloadlink-wxp-x86-glb.txt and/or wxp-x86-it.txt... but I can't find what I should call it for W7? does it matter what the file is called, or does the updates generator just browse through the static/custom folder and download any links/KBs that it finds in there?

(2) I should also NOT TICK the 'clean up download directories' box, right?

(3) As I go through the list of updates that I've been told are required for the Office 365 upgrade, some of them are Hotfixes, and the only option is to request the download link by email. I'm not sure if that link will work a limited number of times - in any case one sample link is
Code: Select all
http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%20Outlook%202007/sp3/officekb2687336fullfilex86glb/12.0000.6665.5000/free/452419_intl_i386_zip.exe

Which I think (because of the zip) will deliver a different type of file to the normal download link
Code: Select all
http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/0/5/6055C934-DA73-4DCD-9D4D-D4F71961CE37/outlookloc2007-kb2687404-fullfile-x86-glb.exe

Can I do this with Hotfix links?

If anyone is available to help with this problem, on a paid basis as a consultant, I would be interested in talking about that. Have posted a second thread (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3708) about that.

Hotfixes are not included in wsusou download.

You are right, you need to uncheck the cleanup box.

Download the files, extract them, and tell me what is inside (file names). The I'll tell you how to integrate those files.

Here's the table of the updates. Some are from that article, and others are from a list of updates that will be required after a pending upgrade to O365.
http://community.office365.com/en-us/wi ... -wiki.aspx

They are mainly for Outlook. Some download links for hotfixes are missing, but I will fill them out soon.

I'm not sure how to get a download link for the root certificate update for XP, that is asking me to do a Windows Genuine Advantage check before downloading it, I will try from an XP machine, but even if I can download it I don't know how to get the download URL for that specific update.

Ah - the other challenge with the Hotfixes is that they download as zipped .exes, so need to be extracted before revealing another .exe of about the same size which is then run to install the Hotfix. Should I give more detail?

Rootsupdate is already included in wsusou.

The files from the download center do not need to be changed, but you need to extract the zip files. Then tell me the file names of all updates.

Which version of Office do your clients run?

@WSUSUpdateAdmin

Wie wäre ein Feature, welches ermöglicht, dass bestimmte zusätzliche Updates (gelistet unter .\client\static\StaticUpdateIds-xxx.txt) beim Cleanup nicht gelöscht werden?

Copy all office / outlook 2007 updates to .\client\o2k7\glb and the 2010 ones to .\client\o2k10\glb.
Important: do not change their names

Then create two files in .\client\static\custom:
Code: Select all
StaticUpdateIds-o2k7.txt
StaticUpdateIds-o2k10.txt

and insert the KB-numbers (only the numbers, not the "KB")
