Same file on different machine configuartions

Hello, I was wondering if the downloaded updates are specific for the same hardware configuration it was download from? As I understood it this is how Windows updates install hardware driver updates. It would be nice to know if I could use the same file so I don't have to re-download when installing the updates on different machine configuration.

By the way, I'm using Windows 7 Pro. The machines widely varies from AMD Phenom, A-Series, core2duo to current gen i3s.

wsusou just handles security relevant updates (and drivers are not) and does not take any look at the updates relevant for the download machine. It's repository is generic for all systems.
