Missing Office 2013 Updates

Missing Office 2013 Updates

Postby Mayakovski » 30.06.2016, 22:02

I just used a fresh install and full download of WSUS Offline Update on a new Windows 7 computer, with Office 2013 installed.

However, after running all the reboots and such until WSUS said it was done, I then ran Windows Update and it listed 120 Office updates to download and install.

What gives?

Hello Mayakovski,

WSUS Offline Update is intended to download and later install mainly security-relevant updates. This is due to the catalog provided by Microsoft to determine the used updates. This catalog (wsusscn2.cab) only includes those kind of updates. See also this information: Coverage of WSUS Offline Update

The thing about Office 2013 is, that most updates are not marked as security-relevant by Microsoft, thus most Office 2013 updates are not handled by WSUS Offline Update.

If you look at the the mentioned 120 or so updates: Is there any marked as Security update?

Greetings
Gerby

Are you using Office 2013 32bit or 64bit or as Click2Run-version?

Hey Gerby;

Thanks for the explanation, that does make sense. I have no idea if the updates were marked as security or not, I will take a look next time I do an install.

Again, Thanks
Mayakovski
