Windows 7-64 Incremental Updates

Lately it is taking hours to periodically update Windows 7-64. Can WSUS be used instead of MS Updater to only download and install critical/important updates on a monthly basis (i.e. only want the updates missing from the last WSUS installation)?

1. This is support of WSUSOU (WSUS Offline Update) that has nothing to do with Microsoft's WSUS.
2. WSUSOU will download and keep a local repository of all security-critical updates (minus obsolete and superseded ones) for a selected OS.
3. The created media (or ./client directory) determines missing updates on the target system and will install only those. However, for determination, the Windows Update Client is used. It is thus subject to the same delays the WU itself is to.

I've downloaded a complete set of security-critical updates for Win7-64 (SP's, .net and Office 2010). I plan to support 3x Win7-64 SP1 systems, each in a different state of update. Just to confirm:
1) based on the created media (or ./client directory) the UpdateInstaller will only install the missing updates on each target
2) UpdateGenerator must be run periodically (monthly/or as MS publishes new updates?) to add to the created media - only new security critical updates missing from the ./client directory, will be added.

1) Yes. WSUSOU is designed for updating target OS with unknown patch levels.
2) Yes. New updates will be downloaded, obsolete/superseded ones removed.

Continually updating WSUSOU itself isn't necessary, but recommended, due to the regular improvements and fixes.
