Downloading SP's and disabling installation

Downloading SP's and disabling installation

Postby CyberSPAWN » 21.10.2015, 08:46

Good day

Wondering if anyone can help me out here

When selecting to download patches and Under Options to include service packs.
Some of my clients requests that only patches be installed without a service pack.

Where can I select this option under the updateInstaller on the client machine?

Must I create a second offline installer package and re-download all patches without including the "include service packs" option? Or is there something I am missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello CyberSPAWN,

Any updates provided by WSUS Offline Update (WOU) rely on the latest Service Pack being installed, e.g. SP1 for Windows 7. This also means that WOU does not update a Windows 7 installation without Service Pack 1, but installs this Service Pack first and then installs the updates since then. This as brief background information.

Concerning your question, there isn't any option in the UpdateInstaller related to Service Packs. Either the Service Pack is missing on the target system; then the Service Pack is installed by WOU first. Or the latest Service Pack is already present; then WOU only installs the updates since then. If your clients already have the latest Service Packs on their computers, you could leave out the Service Packs during creation of the repository with UpdateGenerator. This is only for saving some amount of download and some storage space.

Greetings
