Windows 8 to Windows 8.1?

Windows 8 to Windows 8.1?

Postby thekhan360 » 18.07.2016, 11:58

I have windows 8 on my laptop and I guess all the needed updates are already in it. No new updates. So should I download from the 8.1 version everything? and then run on the target computer? Or should I download the Windows 8 data too?? Thank you.

You need to do the OS Upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 first (through the Store* or through ISO). And you should, since Windows 8.0 is not supported by MS and does not receive any updates since January, 2016. The Upgrade is free except for Volume licenses (Software Assurance).

Once you are on 8.1, the WSUSOU patches for Windows 8.1 (w63 or w63-x64) can be used normally.

*Volume-activated Windows 8.0 versions (MAK, KMS) cannot be upgraded through the Store, only through ISO.
