Hello,

I am new to this program and I have tried to use this program under Windows XP - SP3 with all the latest patches and a Windows 7 x64 system and both are getting failed downloading from either download.windowsupdate.com or download.microsoft.com.

Is anyone else having issues getting WSUS v8.5 to download updates? Here are the options I selected under the program. Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 x86 and x64, Windows XP / Servier 2003 x64 editions, Offcie 2007 and under Legacy Windows XP and Office 2003. I have checked: clean up download directories, include service packs, Verify downloaded updates, Include C++ Runtime Libraires and Create ISO per selected product and image.

I'm not sure if this something on my side or the programs.

I was able to ping both servers. Both sent a valid response. Do you have a malformed hosts-file or a firewall, which is blocking wget.exe / the servers.
Is the machine connected to the internet?

Thanks for checking. I had run the ipconfig /flushdns options as well as the command to reset tcp/IP settings. I ended up switching my dns to the public 8.8.8.8 hosted by google and it seems to be working now. Sorry for the post. I was worried Microsoft was not allowing downloads. It appears dns cache entries were wrong from my side.

It appears there may be something going on still with the download.microsoft.com and the download.windowsupdate.com websites since I am still failing on these:

I will wait until next week to see maybe if Microsoft is having redirect issues.

Microsoft uses Akamai. In the past, we already had people with download problems from Akamai servers.

What happens, if you run

@aker: It redirects to Akamai. Multiple IPs, thus no way to override in hosts file...

I guess I need to know if anyone else is able to download Windows 7 x86 and x64, Windows XP, Office 2003 and Office 2007 without any errors. Something is very flaky with Microsoft lately. Even my GenuineCheck.exe is not working under Windows XP indicating Code not available. Under Windows 7 it is indicating the GenuineCheck is the older version and I should download the newer version.

I'll just wait until next week to check again but I thought I would ask anyone else having any issues downloading.

Back to your question about the ping. I can ping download.windowsupdate.com and it comes back with a26.d.akamai.net address. If I try to ping download.microsoft.com it works showing the a26.d.akami.net address, but If I try to ping it again, I get Ping request could not find host download.microsoft.com.

It seems to be fluctuating.

Ok, this is what I did to resolve the issues. This is only temporary and I believe there is something going on with our ISP since the last time I was able to download these files using WSUS offline was back on 6-25-2013.

I opened up two cmd prompts. I typed ping download.microsoft.com /t in the first command prompt and kept pressing F3 and repeating this until I finally got a response. After this I went to the other command prompt and typed ping download.windowsupdate.com /t and kept pressing F3 and repeating this until I finally got a response. Once I did BOTH of these, I am finally able to download the files!

Just thought I would pass it on in case others are having the same issues.

This appears to be working with Windows 7 updates only so far. Windows XP and Office updates are still failing so I will wait to see what our Network group says in regards to the ISP.
