Hello guys,

I'm new to WSUS offline.

I'm running a virtual environment in VMware and I don't have internet connection that's why I though of using WSUS offline.

Once I start SWUS generator, the CMD shows and displays an error message.

Can someone please guide me on how to solve it.

You already answered your question. WSUSOU needs an internet connection to download all updates from MS servers to create a local repository of those. Then it will be able to install them without an internet connection. So you need to run UpdateGenerator on a computer with working internet and the use UpdateInstaller to update your vm. The updates UpdateGenerator downloads is dynamical determined from an catalog created by MS. UpdateInstaller uses this catalog too, because it contains all security relevant updates MS provides.

Hi Aker,

OK. I think misunderstood WSUS functionality :geek: . I thought it works whenever there is no internet connection.

Thank you for clearing things up. Appreciated.

Will get back to you and let you know how it goes on :) .

OK. I misunderstood the WSUS functionality.

Thanks for clearing things up.

What I get is failure and timed out when trying to connect to download.wsusoffline.net

Is that because of the proxy?

If you use a proxy, you must enter its values into the Update generator, there's a button for doing that.
