Can I MANUALLY add important Udates to my wsusoffline?

Nice! Thank You!

I did have an open question here:
http://forums.wsusoffline.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3846&start=10#p11713

Can you speak to this?

Like I was thinking, it would be handy if someone were to put together a list of very common Recommended and Important updates.

For what it is worth if I get a few put together, I'll post it here and maybe it will save others from having to 're-invent the wheel'. I'll see how it goes.

If I make a mistake in entering one of the links or the naming of the files, will it break wsusoffline's ability to function? Or will it just ignore the entry?

The "StaticDownloadLinks" is as important as the rest.
The resulting file name would be "StaticDownloadLinks-w61-x64-glb.txt"
If there is one wrong entry wsusou will write a warning to its logfile and won't download the file, but if you're unsure, I'll create it for you. Just give me all the links.

Instead of "w61" I would suggest you to use "dotnet" because its a .NET update.

Ok, so the naming of the file is very very strict.

I don't know if I am going to be able to get all the links that were available, but if/when I do, I'll post or send the file here so your can vet it (make sure I did everything right), and so others can take advantage of it as well.

I can see with the constant updates that this could become quite a chore, but I'll see how it goes.

It could turn into a handy little resource if there was a way for more than one to contribute.

As I mentioned earlier, I can get to the download page and I have run into one that asked for windows validation using the GenuineCheck.exe . . . how does wsusoffline get around being able to download those?

There you need to the same as with normal ones.
Find out the direct link and paste it into the text file.

But please upload the file somewhere, becaue if you post it, the forum software will remove the empty line at the end.

Will do. Thanks.

I don't know if MS 'rotates' the links on a regular basis, but if they do, I am assuming that we'll see a failure of some sort in the download log file. Correct?

You will see a warning inside the log, but MS doesn't change the direct links often.
As far as I know, it were just three times since I use wsusou (2010).

If I get a nice list going, would it be wise to add the newer updates to the bottom of the list?

The reason I ask is that I am wondering if wsusoffline processes them in order.

The reason I am wondering if this is important is this: If an older update gets superseded by a newer update, and they are both in the list of links that we create, would wsusoffline overwrite an install of a newer update with an older one if I got them reversed?

If you add an update to the static updates, wsusou will not recognize it as superseded when it gets superseded.
And superseded updates won't be overwritten, because the file names differ. The superseded updates are determined and filtered out of the dynamic determined seperately.
