vc_redist.x86.exe failed

How exactly do I cut and paste this into the command window? Everything was moving so fast during the process. Thanks

This is only a file list. These files are supposed to get updated on the first run of the script. WSUS Offline Update usually does this automatically. But this update fails, if the local files are newer than the files on the server.

This is the fault of an archiver, which doesn't preserve file modification dates. I think, the integrated zip archiver of Windows ("compressed folders") does this.

The best option might be:

Hello hbuhrmester, Ironic thing is I have and use 7zip. I'll try to download it and unpack it again this weekend. I'll then report back. Thank you very much

Just to name a potential troublemaker:

On my system, Comodo Firewall erroneously prevents timestamps of files to be set correctly (all files get current system time). For me, it's only happening for executables (EXE), but it might depend on settings.

Thanks boco. I don't have comodo just native firewall from MS.

Well I ran wsus again and didn't get any warnings. I still don't have an updated system though?

After the message "image has been created" nothing happens. What I remember with my other systems was that it rebooted itself or when I rebooted all the updates were there.....correct me if I am wrong.

I see a new file created that is read only and in it is several files mainly Kb974090.

Am I still missing something?

The part of WSUSOU that creates images (ISOs) does only download, never install. Therefore, The UpdateGenerator never reboots the system, there's simply no need for that.

The UpdateInstaller must reboot the system for the updates to be fully installed*.

Windows Update uses such directories for temporary files while installing updates. But the KB number you mentioned does only apply to Vista and Windows 7 RTM (build 7600).
WSUSOU does not support getting updates for Windows 7 RTM (only those after SP1). So you need to install the SP1 first (if you didn't include it in the media created, it should then be installed by WSUSOU).
