WSUS Button and Cab File

WSUS Button and Cab File

Postby biwood2003 » 24.03.2015, 23:51

Hello All,
I am trying to use the WSUSOffline program to download Windows updates from our networks offline WSUS server, however the WSUSOffline program requires access to the Internet to download the cab and associate files. The problem is our systems are so secure we are never allowed to connect our systems to the Internet.

My question is this:
Is there a way of either importing the required files into the program or has anyone tried to re-write the scripts to stop WSUSOffline accessing the Internet?

I am currently working in a lab environment and if I don't get a response I will try and re-write the scripts to make it possible to import the WSUSCAB file directly into the WSUSOffline file structure and to stop the program connecting to the Windows update servers.

Kind Regards
Barry :D

Hi Barry,
it is impossible to run wsusou completely from a WSUS server. It needs to download at least wsusscn2.cab and its static definitions. What about downloading the updates on your WSUS (which is - I assume - connected to the internet) and sharing wsusou's client folder. Then the clients could mount that share as a network drive and run wsusou's UpdateInstaller.
