WOUTemp Power Profile/Plan

WOUTemp Power Profile/Plan

Postby osmonxp » 05.06.2019, 21:37

Hello,

We update our computers using DoUpdate.cmd. We noticed that every time we run the script a new power scheme called WOUTemp is created and remains active even after all the updates have been installed. How do we fix this? We have custom power plans in place and they are being replaced by this WOUTemp that WSUS Offline creates.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. :?:

The power profile should be reset when WSUS Offline is done with installing all updates. Example log lines from my main system:
Code: Select all
05.11.2016 16:16:33,88 - Info: Created temporary power scheme
05.11.2016 16:16:34,21 - Info: Adjusted power management settings
[...]
05.11.2016 16:18:56,99 - Info: Activated previous power scheme
05.11.2016 16:18:57,03 - Info: Deleted temporary power scheme

Check the log C:\Windows\wsusofflineupdate.log (search for e.g. power) to see if activating the previous power profile fails.

Is the temporary power profile really necessary? Can I disable that feature?

It is necessary to prevent the computer and its disks from going to sleep/hibernation. If that wouldn't be done, the system may go to sleep while it's installing updates, which would be counterproductive. So, no, it cannot be disabled. And as I said: it should work properly. We just have to find out why it doesn't seem to do so on your system(s).

Hi,

it looks like there has been a change to this power plan in recent versions, we patch in the background as the machines run in a "kiosk" mode and now the screens blank after 1 min.
on looking at the temp power plan this has been set to 1 min, I have looked everywhere in the program but cannot see how to change this. Could someone point me in the correct direction?
Thanks
