And I'm trying to use WSUS Offline Update (WOU) to install all necessary updates for Windows and Office.
Here are my steps:
1. I removed all my old data from HDD, formatted it and then installed Win7. Then I installed SP1 (without WOU).
2. Then I installed Office. And then I installed SP2 for Office (without WOU).
3. Then I launched UpdateGenerator.exe, copied "client" folder to drive C, launched UpdateInstaller.exe and wait until everything will be updated.
Here are the checkboxes which I have enabled in WOU interface:
- Code: Select all
UpdateGenerator.exe:
* Windows 7 section: [x] x86
* Office 2010 section: [x] English
* Options section: [x] Verify downloaded updates
[x] Include C++ Runtime Libraries and .NET Frameworks
[x] Inlude Microsoft Security Essentials
[x] Include Service Packs
UpdateInstaller.exe:
* [x] Update C++ Runtime Libaries
* [x] Verify Installation Packages
* [x] Automatic reboot and recall
* [x] Show log file
After installation was completed I checked the version of Office. The program says that it's version is 14.0.7214.5000.
Then, if you look at Update history for Office 2010 page, you will see that the most recent version is 14.0.7224.5000 (November 13), while 14.0.7214.5000 was released on October, 9:
- Code: Select all
Release date | Version number | More information
November 13 | 14.0.7224.5000 | KB 4469617
October 9 | 14.0.7214.5000 | KB 4464656
(The page above is for Office editions based on Click-to-Run installers, while my edition of Office is based on MSI installer. I know the difference between them, but assume that this difference doesn't have any value in my case).
Why does Office was updated to the pre-recent version, instead of recent one?
