Which ISO did you use?

I used 9.2.4 and set it to download XP, w2k3, w2k3-x64 english updates, service packs MSE, runtimes and windows defender... I selected per language ISO.

And which of the ISOs did you burn (in your configuration wsusou should have created 3)?

Could you make a screenshot of UpdateGenerator, upload it somewhere and post a link here?

ISO images are restricted to a maximum size of 4.7 GB, so that they can still be burned to DVD media. This sometimes means, that some older updates are omitted.

The option 'x86-cross-product' probably uses the file wsusoffline/exclude/ExcludeListISO-all-x86.txt, to limit the included updates. The last changes to this file are:

Fix: 'x86-cross-product' ISO images exceeded 4.7 GB (max. capacity of DVD-5 media) and therefore won't any longer contain updates for Windows XP and Office 2003 / 2007 and installation files for .NET 3.5 SP1 / 4.0

You could try the option "per selected product and language" instead. Or just edit the ExcludeListISO-all-x86.txt to your liking, e.g. remove the filters for wxp and w2k3.

The new exclude list should look like this:

.\exclude\ExcludeListISO-all-x86.txt
Code: Select all
*ndp1*
*ndp2*
*ndp3*
*dotnetfx35*
*dotNetFx40*
*o2k3*
*o2k7*
*w60*
*/*-x64/*
*/*/x64-glb/*
*fullfile-x64*
*_x64*
*.x64*
*directx*
*.au3

Well that's supprising, dual layer DVD is 8.5GB and Blu-ray which I actually have is much more.... limiting to single layer DVD's is a bit arbitrary nowadays.

What is the utility of the exclude list if it breaks the image? I would think a warning that certain combined options may exceed certain physical media sizes would be more appropriate.

VM's dont' care about iso size either... so I guess I could just clear out the exclude list to get the ISO I want or are there things that should always absolutely be excluded?

The source file UpdateInstaller.au3, which is the source code for UpdateInstaller.exe, is never needed. It is only included, because the GPL demands, that the source for all applications should be made available somewhere.

So you could keep the line *.au3 and then get the same as the file ExcludeListISO-all.txt.

But I don't know, if and how the profile "all" could be called from the UpdateGenerator.exe. It is an option for the script CreateISOImage.cmd, but it seems, that the graphical user interface application does not always expose all possible options of the underlying scripts.
