Release date: 2020-03-25
Intended compatibility: WSUS Offline Update 12.0
New features
- Support for Windows 10 versions
If one of the updates w100, w100-x64, all, all-x86, all-x64, all-win, all-win-x86 or all-win-x64 is selected, then a fine selection of Windows 10 versions is displayed.
This requires the external command dialog.
Removed features
- Support for Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2
The new branch WSUS Offline Update 11.9.x ESR and the Linux download scripts 1.19.x ESR still support these versions.
- Support for Windows 7 Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials
The usage of the directories client/wddefs and client/msse is basically reversed: Formerly, the directory wddefs was used to download definition updates for the original Defender of Windows Vista and 7. It is now used for the built-in Defender of Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.
The directory client/msse is not used anymore and will be deleted.
The options -includemsse and -includewddefs8 are not used anymore. Use -includewddefs instead.
- Support for Service Packs
The option -includesp is not used anymore. The file ExcludeList-SPs.txt will be deleted.
- Support for .NET Framework 4.6 installers
The English installer for .NET Framework 4.6 was removed in WSUS Offline Update 12.0. This is the only full installer; the other installers are only language packs for custom languages.
But the download links for these language packs are still present in the static download files StaticDownloadLinks-dotnet-*.txt:
https://forums.wsusoffline.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10173
Therefore, the file NDP46-KB3045557-x86-x64-AllOS-DEU.exe and similar localized files are not immediately deleted, but kept as "valid static files".
You can
- delete this file manually
- copy the file preferences-template.bash to preferences.bash and set the option: keep_valid_static_files="disabled"
- ignore the file for now – it will eventually be deleted, when the files StaticDownloadLinks-dotnet-*.txt are cleaned up
- delete this file manually
Internal changes
- Removed obsolete Windows and Office versions
The Linux download scripts supported some old Windows and Office versions internally, to create the first ESR version 1.1. This included Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Office 2003 and 2007. Since these versions are long obsolete, they are removed now.
