What is in it?

What is in it?

Postby IUpdate » 14.04.2014, 07:29

How can I check which updates are included in my download? (And which not...)
How do I find out which is the last one included (i.e., up to when)?
The downloaded files seem all to be encrypted or in a cab...

You can check .\log\download.log for checking, which updates werde downloaded. No file is encrypted, they are downloaded directly form MS without any modification.
The problem with Office downloads is, that the file naming does not allow you to find out, which KB-number it is.

So what do cryptic names help me if I have a KB number? How do I check it then?
I downloaded all updates for Win XP and Office 2003 yesterday (April 13). Did I with that also get the April 8 updates, or are they not yet included?
Up to which month are they included?

You get all recent updates by the time of download, old updates marked as replaced will be deleted if the cleanup function is enabled.

OK, thanks.
But what about checking if I have a KB number but not the fancy name?

It is possible to get the KB-number from the .\client\ofc\UpdateTable-*.csv, but it is very difficult to extract them using wsusscn2.cab.

Thanks! I will look into that.

Another and last question, though not important at all.
I tried to get get the Win 2000 updates with WSUS Offline 6.6.5.
Just in case I may one day possibly install it...
It was, after all, not a bad OS.

But it didn't work, neither in Win7 nor Win XP.
I suppose these updates are no more available from MS... or is there a way?

There is a problem with some bad links when using an old version. You have to update .\static\StaticDownloadLinks-sysinternals.txt to the newest version. (just copy the one from version 9.2)

My WSUS 6.5.5. has no such file... My version 9.1 has one...
Can I just copy it, even though there was no such file before?

Thanks for the other tip. I will check it.
