Detection of wuauserv in non-english systems (long timeout)

Detection of wuauserv in non-english systems (long timeout)

Postby ffrota » 26.05.2017, 23:55

I am trying to install updates in a pt-br Windows 10 system. The script always fails when trying to detect the change of status of wuauserv. Looks like it is not testing "stopped" and "running" in other languages.

In brazilian-portuguese the messages are:

net start wuauserv
O serviço de Windows Update está sendo iniciado..
O serviço de Windows Update foi iniciado com êxito.

(Sugestion of string to test: "foi iniciado")

net stop wuauserv
O serviço de Windows Update está sendo finalizado ....
O serviço de Windows Update foi finalizado com êxito.

Suggestion of string to test: "foi finalizado".

The script doesn't use net.exe to check or change the service's state. It uses sc.exe (Service Control Utility) to do both. AFAIK this tool outputs any messages language independent, i.e. always English.

It's probably best if you provive the exact error message the script fails with; it's easier than guessing.
