[solved] Remove Internet Zone Identifier

[solved] Remove Internet Zone Identifier

Postby MikeWill34 » 06.08.2010, 14:15

Hi,

Thanks for an excellent program, which I have been using from the early days when it was on the Heisse Security site.

I would like to suggest a new feature.

I run wsusoffline from my hard disk, then copy the files to a USB Hard disk NTFS formatted, becuse the files are copied from NTFS formatted disk to NTFS formatted disk the internet Zone Identifier Stream of the files is preserved.

Depending on where the files are copied this can prevent unattented installation because windows pauses with a dialogue asking if you are sure you want to run a program downloaded from the internet.

My request is that ...
After the files have been downloaded use the SysInternals program "streams.exe" to remove all Internet Zone Identifiers.
command line is "streams -s -d *.*" from the downloaded files folder.

Latest version of streams can be found at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 97440.aspx

Regards
Mike.

I'm sure that would be no problem, after the signatures have been verified/validated. I guess the reason for not encountering that problem before is that most people create ISOs for updating, which automatically loses the IZIs.

Let's wait for the author.

Copying to a FAT32 USB Stick (or HDD) would also lose the IZIs

Now it is. ;) Thanks for implementing.

A little copy&paste bug I've found, Torsten:
cmd/DownloadUpdates.cmd (r126), line 251 must be "del Streams.zip" (instead of Sigcheck.zip)
