Win5.2 x64 (wxp & 2k3 x64)

Win5.2 x64 (wxp & 2k3 x64)

Postby Cababs » 05.01.2014, 01:23

I am getting the download links for XP x64 and Server 2003 x64. I know these share the same version - 5.2.
I am using XP x64 to get the updates because I don't have a copy of w2k3 x64

When I am getting the download links I am presented with 2 different links. for example:

Code: Select all
Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0) for Windows XP x64 Edition (KB925876)
Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0) for Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition (KB925876)

http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/c/0/5c04e12e-355f-461b-85e2-acadc21bb939/WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB925876-v2-x64-ENU.exe

You would think Microsoft would amalgamate these updates so it says something along the lines of "./Windows5.2-KB925876-v2-x64.enu.exe"

Anyway should either link work with both OSes in the download link file "StaticDownloadLinks-w2k3-x64-enu.txt"?

Windows Media Player 11 does not install on XP x64, however it exists in .\w2k3-x64\glb directory. I looks like It does not detect WMP since it gives it a version of 0.

The install log is at http://sdrv.ms/1hXRtZP and it is called wsusofflineupdateINSTALL.txt

Since WMP11 in not installed updates for this version are failed to install. Current WMP version is 10.

So the question I ask is:
Should WMP be installed to 11 on w2k3-x64?
