Hi
Have a stupid question.
I am currently running WSUS offline 10.X and found the newest version is 11.X
How can I update the WSUS offline update generator / update installer?
Can I keep the existing downloaded package?

Please advise

If you want to update WSUS Offline manually, you can just download and extract the new version, overwriting existing files in the process. After updating WOU itself, it's recommended to start a new download run to delete old updates and download new ones (if available).

One important thing though: Make sure that you remove the flag that the archive was downloaded from the internet from the downloaded WSUS Offline archive file before extracting it! Do that by clicking "Allow" in the archive's file properties. Alternatively you can use 7zip or WinRAR to extract the archive. If you don't do that, WSUS Offline will make some trouble because all files will get a newer modification date (with the current date+time) instead of the one from the archive. But WOU's core (wget and aria2) relies on correct modification dates.

Doesn't WOU update itself automatically with default settings?

What do you mean by remove the flag?

Right click the archive, select „Properties“ and click „Allow“ (or similar).

Yes, it does (and that feature have been existing for a really long time, which I wasn't aware of). Anyway, I had the impression that either automatic update doesn't work or not desired. Might have been wrong there...

Automatic update of WOU should work fine, or we would have a lot of complaints here, don't we?

Personally, I'm not using Auto update as I'm using trunks, instead. But, I'm not the average user of WOU, I guess.

I wasn't suggesting that there is a general issue with the automatic update, maybe it's limited to the OP's system. But that's all just shots in the dark. The two possible ways to update WOU have been mentioned, now it's up to yanwah to try them (and hopefully report back to us, especially if there's a problem).

Where do we access the default settings? How do I confirm that my wsusoffline update can auto update itself to the latest version?
Currently, I downloaded 11.5 but there is a newer version of 11.6 available on http://download.wsusoffline.net/..

@jovanhuang:
WSUS Offline UpdateGenerator should ask for an update as soon as you tell it to start downloading updates. That is: Start UpdateGenerator, select whichever software you want to update and other options if you wish, and then hit the Start button. That's when WSUS Offline should check for an update and offer to update itself when one is available.

This also works when "Only create collection script" is checked.
