True. But since WSUS Offline disables WU temporarily (IIRC via GPO) and restarts WU service so it can pick up the change, the question why one method supposedly works and the other one doesn't is still unanswered.

I'm still testing WOU with Server 2008 SP2 (same kernel as Vista), and it also needs a very long time. Furthermore, if I'm using WuMgr to search for updates and skip supersedence checks (by enabling the "Include superseded" box), the search is lightning fast. Surprise.

Note, I'm having the same issue with Server 2012, the WuMgr method also works on this one.

Server 2008 (== NT 6.0 == Windows Vista) or Server 2008 R2 (== NT 6.1 == Windows 7)?
